Our owner, Idean Farid, is also our Executive Chef and has a long history of working in restaurants in the Sacramento region. Idean’s parents, Mohammad and Golnar Farid, moved to the United States from Iran in 1979 and started working shortly thereafter at one of the first Persian restaurants in the region. They soon branched out on their own to open Shahrzad Persian Cuisine in Rancho Cordova, CA. There they were able to take their family’s recipes and incorporate those traditions into delicious food for 17 years. After selling Shahrzad in 2020, Mohammad now helps out Idean at Maydoon! Jen, Idean’s wife, also works in the front of the house and their son Mo can also be seen from time to time “helping” out.
At Maydoon, Idean aims to continue the tradition of introducing Persian flavors to Sacramento but with his own modern twist. We offer indoor and patio dining, catering for special events, along with pick-up and delivery options. We also have a full bar with an innovative and unique cocktail program. Our restaurant is proud to serve halal food and many vegetarian options.
